Urgent.ly Launches Accident Detection, Accident Alerts; First in Roadside
Today we’re excited to announce a giant step forward in driver safety and on-demand auto services for anyone using the latest version of the Urgent.ly iOS application. Our latest rev of the app is now packaged with free Accident Detection and Accident Alerts.
“Through our partnership with Zendrive, the driver-centric analytics company, Urgent.ly consumers will have the security of knowing that if they are in an accident we’re there for them, asking if they need assistance and alerting loved ones,” said Chris Spanos, Urgent.ly CEO and co-founder. “We’re eager to extend this added peace of mind to the thousands of existing Urgent.ly on-demand roadside service customers, and those to come.“
In the event of an accident (detected by the Zendrive technology above 30 mph), sensors in the Urgent.ly app will be able to pinpoint the location of the incident and allow the customer to request roadside help and auto-alert – via text message – a predefined contact.
“We are thrilled to work with Urgent.ly to offer the first ever product of its kind,” said Jonathan Matus, Zendrive’s CEO. “We’ve done extensive testing and are pleased to finally offer the services for free to Urgent.ly consumers.”
The combination of the visibility of seeing and tracking trucks on a map, plus our unmatched FamilyView feature (family members automatically notified in the event someone requests assistance), and now Zendrive’s accident detection technology, gives Urgent.ly the most advanced roadside assistance service in the market and continues to lead the industry in innovation.
Setup is simple, from Setting (above) or part of the sign-up process.

Many individuals and local authorities have already jumped on the opportunity to remind users to drive safely. There are even signs popping up on highways to encourage safer driving.
Luckily, there are tools out there to help the tech-obsessed (or the poke-obsessed) improve their driving. One of our favorites is an app called TrueMotion Family! The app analyzes your driving in order to provide you with a score - and insights as to how you drive. It's perfect for parents who want to monitor their teen drivers. The app gives parents the power to see where their kids drive, and produces a 'report card' on their driving in addition to an assessment of whether they were driving distracted (using their cell phone). Plus, families have access to roadside assistance on-demand from right within the TrueMotion app.
I don’t remember Ash, Misty, or Brock driving cars in their quest to be the very best, like no one ever was. And there aren’t vehicles any in PokemonGO. At Urgent.ly, we love the game and just like you, we’re prepared to travel across the land searching far and wide to catch 'em all, but we encourage you to put safety first in your travels! Remember that the power of Pokemon is awesome in augmented reality but automobiles are a powerful tool meant for use in the real world and require optimum focus to operate safely. In a world we must defend, you can start by driving safely, and catch and train ‘em all when you’re not operating a vehicle.
