We remember the ’90s: Dial-up Internet, grunge music, Seinfeld. And a bunch of on-demand startup attempts. As @tan_hack explains in Business Insider, the first wave of on-demand delivery businesses faced headwinds nonexistent today — we’ve got mobile penetration, favorable consumer behavior, simpler infrastructures and so on. The early guys like Webvan and Kozmo certainly had it tough, but we should tip our hat to those pioneers who helped lay a bit of the groundwork.
But that said, let’s not forget the milkman — the true pioneer.
